Yokai

Yokai are physical manifestations of spirits, which have been roused at the onset of the new decade. Globalization, increasing dependency on new technologies, and the cross pollination of eastern and western cultures due to the upwelling of social media have given these spirits new and varied forms as vessels. Throughout their folkloric history, they are always most prevalent during times of change. They range from malevolent to sympathetic, exploiting newly present fears, experimenting with new social dynamics, or acting as guides or guardians.
